StreetLife "Be Wise... Sterilise!" 2024 Campaign..... UPDATE!
We're thrilled to advise that the next phase of our "Be Wise.... Sterilise!" campaign has been a great success - we'd like thank our Partner Vets, our Partner Shelters and of course, our StreetLife friends and supporters... the image below provides figures:

In expanding our sterilisation programme across the Eastern Algarve (please click here for a map), StreetLife invited private shelters in the area to become a Partner Shelter and work with StreetLife on our Be Wise.... Sterilise! campaign.
When considering a mutually beneficial relationship, the value of a collaborative partnership is a win-win and we were thrilled that a few private shelters agreed to work with us. Our StreetLife Partner Shelters were encouraged to spread the word about our Sterilisation Programme to families on low incomes living in the areas surrounding their shelters, displaying and circulating our Be Wise.... Sterilise! posters.
StreetLife provided financial support with shelter related sterilisations, helping them with the strays and abandoned dogs they look after until they are hopefully rehomed. Our local shelters are overloaded with stray and abandoned dogs. The number of puppies they have rescued, many newborns that have been dumped in bins, is unbelievable. That’s why sterilisation is so important… but without shelters what would happen to these dogs? This was one of the many reasons working together made sense... the attempt to stop the problem of unwanted puppies. The number of stray animals in Portugal has increased enormously over just the past two years, certainly exacerbated by the Covid epidemic! Many families found it almost impossible to feed themselves, let alone their pets so there have been numerous pets abandoned or surrendered. Prior to the havoc of Covid, local authority kennels were already overflowing with no solution in sight so it's easy to appreciate the sheer numerical enormity of the current problem. In March 2021, we put together some information on the subject “Stray Animals in Portugal” ....(click here to see the article) and in October 2023, we circulated an update published in the The Portugal Resident.

Art for Dogs - April, Tina McEvoy.....
Once again, Tina McEvoy has come up with a lovely painting for April...... her support of the StreetLife Animal Sterilisation programme through her "Art for Dogs" initiative creates a wonderful donation stream for StreetLife's ongoing efforts to sterilise as many dogs as possible. This painting is called "Early Spring Walk" and relates to a quiet time on the beach for Tina.

A Big "Thank You" to Lisa & Russ....
When we first set up Associação StreetLife just over 6 years ago, Lisa & Russ were amongst the first who volunteered to be part of the Association. They wanted to help make a difference. Lisa became the Vice-President of the Management Committee and Russ, the President of our Fiscal Committee.
Over the years Lisa has baked special StreetLife Muffins, taken part in our Fund Raising Algarve Experience, the Virtual Swim of the English Channel… they attended so many of our QuizWhiz Nights as part of Team Pacho … winning the Trophy in 2020/21. They hosted Quiz Nights for their team at their house, dressed up for our Abba Party Night at Restaurante António and baked cakes for our StreetLife Coffee Mornings. This is only a “snap shot” of their valuable support for StreetLife.
Sadly Russ & Lisa have resigned from StreetLife ☹️. There are so many things going on in their lives at the moment.... they need a break to assess what’s right for them.
All of the StreetLife Team, in particular Linda & Graeme, thanks them both from the bottom of our collective hearts for everything they have done for us..... their involvement with StreetLife has always been so appreciated. This is not goodbye... we know they will remain strong supporters of StreetLife and our Animal Sterilisation Programme.
Much love from StreetLife to you both… you have to say goodbye to say hello again and we are sure we'll be saying hello soon. 😊 Once again, A BIG THANK YOU!!

The StreetLife Team....
StreetLife is pleased and delighted to welcome Bill Bullock and Jean Adamson as part of our Management Team. Bill is taking on the role of Fiscal President and Jean has joined as the Secretary of the Management Committee.
At our recent AGM, all attendees voted to confirm the appointments and some slight reshuffling of roles was also approved. If you'd like to see more about our StreetLife team and their associated responsibilities, please click here.

Wow! What a donation.....

Art for Dogs.... our thanks for a very generous donation!
Our sincere thanks must go to our friends, Kenneth and Deidre, who so love the work of our Art for Dogs artist, Tina McEvoy that their purchases of her artwork resulted in a donation of €690.00 to StreetLife.
We feel sure that they derive years of enjoyment from Tina's work and we hope that it'll be a reminder of their kindness and care in helping us to continue with our sterilisation programme.

Best Wishes to all StreetLife Supporters.....
It's been an eventful year and we'll be sending out our year end Newsletter in early January, but we wanted to take a moment to wish all our StreetLife supporters a very Happy Christmas.
As many of you are aware, we reached a major milestone recently – 1000 sterilisations!! This would not have been possible without your help and support.
